ASR1001-X
- Router Cisco ASR 1001X, 6x 1 GE [SFP], 2x 10GE [SFP+], Dual P/S, 8GB DRAM, 20 Gbps
The Cisco ASR 1001-X router is designed to provide high performance, reliability and scalability for a variety of networking needs, including enterprise and service provider environments.
It comes with a multi-core processor that can efficiently handle various network tasks. It offers bandwidth up to 20 Gbps (gigabits per second). It has 8GB of RAM, which can be exchanged for 16GB, which is essential when configuring the BGP protocol. It is equipped with 2 10G SFP+ ports and 6 1G SFP ports. You can also install a SPA module with, for example, a 10G SFP+ interface (SPA-1X10GE-L-V2). The router has 2 AC power adapters installed. You can also install a DC power supply. The power supplies and fan module are HOT-SWAP so they can be hot swapped.
The low power consumption of 180 Watt is also characteristic of this device.
Perfect for BGP. The ASR 1001-X is designed to handle complex routing tasks, and BGP is one of the protocols it supports.
The ASR 1001-X's rugged hardware design, scalable architecture, and advanced software features make it suitable for BGP routing in a variety of scenarios:
Internet Peering: BGP is commonly used to establish peering relationships between different Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and organizations. The capabilities of the ASR 1001-X allow for effective management of BGP peering sessions and support for the exchange of routing information between autonomous systems.
Enterprise network: In large enterprise networks, especially those with multiple sites or data centers, BGP can be used for optimal routing and redundancy. The ASR 1001-X hardware and software capabilities provide the necessary resources for efficient BGP route management.
Service Providers: The ASR 1001-X can also be used at the edge of a service provider network to handle BGP routing for customer connections and links to other service providers.
Route aggregation and filtering: BGP allows fine-grained control over routing policies, including route aggregation and filtering. The ASR 1001-X's capabilities in terms of routing table size and policy management make it suitable for implementing complex BGP policies.
Internet Exchange Points: The ASR 1001-X routers can also be deployed in Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), where BGP is essential to facilitate the exchange of routing information between different ISPs and networks.
